2015 ICCo/SP-Arte Award
The ICCO/SP-Arte Award is a partnership between the Institute and SP-Arte – the largest art fair in the Southern Hemisphere – which annually awards artists represented by galleries participating in the fair with international residencies. Unlike other editions, in which two artists were awarded, in 2015 the jury chose three artists, in a technical tie: Beto Shwafaty, from Galeria Luisa Strina; Mayana Redin, from Galeria Silvia Cintra + Box4; and Pedro Motta, from Galeria Celma Albuquerque.
In the second half of this year, Beto Shwafaty will be an artist-in-residence at Residency Unlimited (RU) in New York; while Mayana Redin and Pedro Motta will be at FLORA ars+natura in Honda, Tolima, Colombia. They will spend two to three months immersed in research, production and networking and will have complete infrastructure for developing their work.
At the fair, ICCo had its own space where it exhibited the processes and results of the winners of the 2014 ICCo/SP-Arte Award: Alexandre Brandão and Bruno Cançado. The Institute curated and produced the exhibition, in addition to designing the project, organizing and keeping track of the residencies.
